Henry A. Bariteau III is a June 1984 graduate of the Albany Medical Center School of Nursing (Union University, Albany, New York). Originally born in Cohoes and raised in Waterford (Saratoga County), he preceded his entry into AMCSN with a brief stint volunteering with the Waterford Rescue Squad in 1979-1981, where he underwent training as an EMT. He was awarded a New York State Regents Scholarship in  Nursing, as well as several other awards for outstanding Community service and academic achievement. 

During his years at AMCSN, he functioned as Chairman of the Welcome and Tour Committee, as a Senior Counselor, and various other committees of student government. Following graduation he worked for a brief period in the Coronary Care Unit at the Albany Medical Center Hospital. 

During this time he entered the Army Nurse Corps being

commissioned in June '85 as a 2nd Lieutenant, and assigned to the 364th General Hospital, 1st Medical Section (USAR) in Albany. (Delayed entry after serving an enlistment while attending his nursing education).

He formally moved to Gainesville Florida in November of 1985, and was reassigned to the 301st Field Hospital, 3rd Hospital Unit, Dispensary/Emergency Room (USAR), and started his new job at the University of Florida Medical Center in the Surgical ICU. While his civilian job gave him many unique experiences, his military duties also presented him with many different and challenging tasks. He functioned many years at the company level as a Unit Training Officer, and at the brigade level as a Range Safety Officer (RSO). He attended many different training sessions (FTX, & TDY) all across the United States, completing his Officer Basic Course at the Academy of Health Sciences at Ft. Sam Houston, TX, and his Advanced Officer Course with the 3396 USAR School (Jacksonville)/ AHS, Ft. Sam Houston, TX. He was one of the first soldiers to complete Deployable Medical Systems (DEPMEDS) training at Camp Shelby, Hattiesburg, MS, and was instrumental in developing and instituting an ANC Officer Professional Development course while assigned to this Troop Program Unit. He honorably separated in January 2001 with the rank of Captain. 

He is a life member of  The Reserve Officers Association (ROA); the Association of Military Surgeons of the United States (AMSUS)Sons of Colonial New England, and Army Nurse Corps Association. He is a Past-President and the current Secretary, of the Gainesville Chapter Sons of the American Revolution. He is Past Master of Gainesville Lodge No. 41, Free and Accepted Masons, Gainesville, Florida, a 32 degree Mason in the Valley of Ocala (Past-President of the Alachua County Scottish Rite Club) as well as a member of the York Rite Bodies. He possesses Membership in Perpetuity and is the current  President of North Central Florida Chapter #537 National Sojourners; and a member (Commander) of Nathan Bedford Forest Camp, Heroes of '76. He is  the Secretary of the Masters and Warden Association of the 14th Masonic District as well as the Memorial Lodge of the 14th District, one of the 12 Board Members of the Gainesville Crescent Foundation and a member of American Legion Post 400; serving on many committees within these organization. He has served the Grand Lodge of Florida F. & A.M. as the District Chairman of Public Education and Citizenship;  F.A. -100, and Child I.D. He is also an Honorary Kentucky Colonel. He also remains active with a number of historical and preservation groups, focusing amongst all things, early American history. 

 His interest include among others: digital photography; historical travel; computers and graphic/web design for non-profit and fraternal organizations.
