2008 ROTC/JROTC Awards.
The ROTC Committee led by Compatriot Ray Davis and assisted by Bob
Reeves presented three silver medals to the UF units and ten bronze medals to
high school units in the area. The
Committee is looking to expand the program to an additional two to five high schools
in 2009.
The SAR awards the ROTC Medal to foster the
principle of the "citizen-soldier", exemplified by the Minutemen of
Revolutionary War days. This award
is presented to ROTC or JROTC cadets who are selected for having a high degree
of merit with respect to leadership qualities, military bearing and general
excellence. The recipients are
selected by the Commanding Officer of the ROTC or JROTC unit.
The SAR ROTC Medal is approved by the Army,
Navy & Marine Corps, and the Air Force and when the recipient enters the
armed forces it may be worn on the uniform
ROTC/JROTC Awards Winners for 2007.
